Can I use Comfrey tea as lawn feed & how long does comfrey tea last?

Hi Lee.. how long will the comfrey tea last once you've produced it and its in the (old adblue) container? Also have you tried putting it onto lawns through a sprayer.. and in the same breath how long do you think the tea would work for - a couple of weeks or 6 weeks.. if sprayed on a lawn for example or on plants

    Hi Shaun.

Great question about the life span of comfrey tea.

I would say around 6 months in an airtight container. Make sure you give it a good shake as you will notice it settle.

Yes, you could use Comfrey tea as a liquid organic lawn feed for a very poor lawn or use just once a year to give it a boost. It may be overkill in the 1:10 ratio for dilution so I'd go for 1:15 for a lawn so you don’t end up with crazy growth. 1: 10 is the usual dilution ratio but I'd water it down some more.

As for its timespan all liquid feeds only have a short ‘stay around time’ given they leech out and get absorbed by other areas quickly. Whereas a mulch slowly breaks down. I’d hazard a guess that liquid feeds probably only last 1-2 weeks.

It’s a boost not a long term energy source if that makes sense. I only use it on hungry or poorly plants. Give it a whirl on your lawn next spring.

Don’t do it now or it will grow like mad and you’ll be left with a potential winter lawn mowing nightmare!!! Hope that helps. Make sure you subscribe on YouTube for more!

    Happy gardening. Lee ???
