    Carex 'Frosted Curls'

Hi I'm quite new to planting grasses. I purchased a Carex 'frosted curls' last year and planted it in a pot, it looked lovely all summer. It now looks all brown and limp. What can I do to revive it? Does it need a trim or should I pull it out and get a new one.

    Many thanks

    Nichola

    • Hello Nichola,

When you had your grass out in the summer, did you leave it in the same place throughout winter, the plant could be water logged?

Have you tried lifting the plant out of the pot to check on the roots?, post a picture if you can, also on You Tube Lee has a great Video on various grasses, really worth a view.

Will look out for your picture.

    Regards Bob

    Hi Nicola,

It does sound as if the Carex has been waterlogged over winter. Carex are damp loving plants but when their leaves turn brown it's more than likely they have started to drown in the pot due to lack of drainage. They're usually really tough. Lift the plant-like Bob suggests and then check the roots. If they smell strange or look mushy then you need more drainage.

Don't give up though all gardening is a learning curve!

    All the best

    Lee
