Is Weigela evergreen or not?

I have 2 X Weigela Florida 'All Summer Monet' in a pot, either side of my front door. I bought them because the foliage is so pretty and the plant label says evergreen and I wanted some winter interest in the garden. I have since looked them up online, to see how to care for them and I've noticed it's not saying evergreen. Can anyone confirm whether or not they are, or am I just going to have a pot either side of my door with bare branches all winter? Thank you.

Hi My Tiny Garden,

Ahhh the dreaded misinformation of garden centre plant labels strikes again. Sadly most garden centre plant labels contain a mix of erroneous and misleading info.

Weigela is a deciduous shrub which will lose its leaves in the winter.

With plant labels, it's always best to double-check with online resources or even google if unsure.

It's still a fabulous shrub though so don't panic too much! You can also propagate it easily with soft wood cuttings. More on that here!

Thanks for that Lee. Lesson learned ?. In future I will look up first, on a reliable website, like the RHS. Thanks for the propagation info too.
