Sorry Lee, another question from me ( I love your garden makeovers by the way )
We get a bit fed up weeding our borders and mulch works partly by our dogs love bark !.. I would love to go all out and plant lots of fast growing ( ideally evergreen ) ground cover plants. I have heard of Thyme and Aubretia but there seems quite a lot of confusion as to what is 'fast' growing. In the borders I'm talking about we mainly have roses, rhodedendrons, buddlea, not a lot of lower plants , although I want to put in some more hardy geraniums which we love.
Any suggestions on 'fast' plant(s) that would suit

If you want fast growing ground cover look no further than Sweet Woodruff / Galium odoratum.
Alternatively, look for the Barren strawberry Waldsteinia ternata.
Both of these will happily colonise a border at a rate of knots. Great for awkward spots!
