fruit trees not flowering

My Irish peach apple tree didn't flower or produce any apples at all

Ive got the tree the right distance from my other tree which is a Lord Lambourne which helps cross-pollinate it

They are about a year old now all of them

I also have a red falstaff which also didn't flower or bud/fruit near by the other two trees.

I did have a nice one apple on my lord Lambourne only one mind

I haven't manage to prune them yet though as will be doing it this winter

I also had a golden delicious tree which produced one fruit after flowering.

I'm just wondering if I have done something wrong to the trees

Two are planted and two are in pots

lord Lambourne and the Irish peach are planted as bare root trees and the golden delicious and red falstaff are in pots big pots,

Is it maybe the Lack of bees to pollinate the trees? I don't know

I would appreciate your advice in this matter many

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for your comment about why your apple trees are not fruiting.

It sounds as if these fruit trees are relatively young as they are only 1 year old. Most fruit trees need to mature before they will fruit. This means they need to establish decent root stock in the ground and start to thicken up their main trunks and branches before they then flower and fruit.

Getting apple trees to fruit:

The reason apple trees fruit is to spread their seed to propagate more plants. It's a survival technique. So they only fruit when healthy, strong and ready to propagate!!

It sounds like you're doing everything correctly, such as having cross-pollination species which some fruit trees need. Other apple trees are self-fertile so you don't always need 2 or more trees to get them to fruit.

What I would advise is a decent winter prune which you can find more on here. This will promote growth ready for next year which should help get your fruit trees into a fighting shape for fruiting.
