Hello from Belfast! And question about planting climbers

Hello, new member here. I found Lee's brilliant YouTube channel and then stumbled upon this forum. Really useful subjects and hints and tips.

Our back garden is a sad, desolate waste-ground! We're hoping to rebuild our rear extension next summer, so we can't do too much to the back yard at the minute as the builders will be in with digging gear etc. Under the pavers it's just hardcore so there's no actual earth to plant into. The plan is to build an L-shaped raised bed (preferably block and render..railway sleepers is Plan B) along the back and right hand side, top with fence panels,  and start planting shrubs and small trees in so at least the beds will be (kind of) established by the time all the building work is done. I love the winter flowering hazel so will use this as a starting point - for structure and colour. And we really want to bring in plants that will benefit the birds and wildlife.

I've just got a query regarding a little strip of land over to the right that actually belongs to our neighbours. They dug out their conifer trees and then weirdly fenced inside of this area. They just abandoned the stumps lol! I'm hoping to have a raised bed in front of this (where the pavers are), but could we 'borrow' this strip and plant a couple of climbers in it to train up our new fencing...maybe something that can be easily dug up if we need to transplant it in the future??!  I've attached a few photos to help explain this - please excuse the state of our yard!! Our garden is east facing so that strip is mainly in the shade.

    Nice to meet you folks,

    All the best,

    BelfastSink
