    Monkey Puzzle Tree Help

Hello, hoping to get some advice on my Monkey Puzzle Tree. It has been planted around 6 years now (Was about 4 years old before I got it) and has been growing really well so I thought it was happy and healthy. About 12m ago I noticed it starting to go brown at the bottom of the tree. I cut the bottom layer off as I read that they discard layers as the tree ages however since then the browning has continues to crawl up the tree and its now on the next 2 layers.

Has anyone had any experience of this and advice on what it can be? We love the tree and would be disapointed if its not going to make it!

Tree is planted directly into the ground in a hole with 1m circumference and then we have artifical turf surrounding it. It has no other plants in the ground around it for competition and with the wet Summer we have had I thought it would have had plenty of rain. (Moisture meter at the base of the tree is saying its moist)
