    My wisteria isn’t flowering

Hi there, I followed Lee’s advice as to how to prune my wisteria as it hasn’t flowered in several years. It’s quite old and huge in a south facing garden with lots of sun - on a west fence. Locally everyone else’s wisterias are beginning to flower and all I can see is lots of leaves coming out on mine - it looks very healthy but no sign of any flowers. I miss the beautiful flowers. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you've followed my advice on how to prune a wisteria.

Please don't panic each Wisteria will have its own flowering 'schedule'. Some in the village near me are in flower (April) but mine are just in bud. Each garden will have its own micro-climate and conditions. Have a look below at what flower buds you are looking at for flowers. These were taken today 21st April 2022 and I'd imagine they will burst into flower in the next week or two!

So stay strong and remember that timely pruning will only ever increase your flowering success rather than leaving the Wisteria to do its own thing and become lazy!

    All the best

    Lee
