    Plaiting grass?

    Happy Easter gardening 🌞

Is this a horrible idea? Have you tried it? Does it damage the plant?

    Hi @helenpd

    Lovely to hear from you.

I've been seeing this a lot online recently, especially in the USA. It seems to be a fad that's taking over pinterest and other platforms.

I'm not a fan. The reason for this is let's think about what those leaves are there for. Photosynthesis to feed the plant, movement, a habitat for wildlife.

When we start braiding ornamental grasses it we're basically reducing these features of the plant.

I wouldn't bother as I love my grasses in their natural state and can't think of any beneficial reason for the plant or wildlife to do this. It will just harm the grass's potential to thrive.

Sorry to be the Debbie downer, but I don't get this, a bit like painted heathers. glitter cactus or any other fiddling with Mother natures plans!

I hope your garden redesign is going well and you'rte writing with passion! 😉

    All the best

    Thanks Lee,

Very sensible answer. I'll leave well alone and look forward to my grasses as they are. The garden is pretty well planted, with a few gaps I'll fill later in the year  the seeds are doing well in the potting shed.

The living roof is awesome. Thanks for the inspiration.

Can't wait for everything to start growing! Can't wait for the ones you suggested to arrive and help nest the pod. It's lovely to write in the pod. A bonus is I don't feel overlooked in it.

    Warm wishes
