Evergreen trees for garden privacy

Hello.

I am stuck with what to plant in my garden. I would like an evergreen tree maybe either side of where those 3 pots are at the moment so that the house behind us is less visible. But would want it to grow no more than about 3.5m or be kept at a height of around 3.5m with pruning. But I’m just struggling to make a decision! I thought about a cherry laurel or red robin?
I would also like some taller plants in the border to hide the fence a bit as it’s such a long fence border.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Sarah,

It's great that you're looking to add some evergreen trees to your garden! Cherry laurel and red robin are both excellent choices for creating privacy while adding some beautiful greenery to your space. They're also relatively low-maintenance, which is always a plus.

For taller plants to hide your fence, you might consider adding some climbing plants or tall shrubs. Climbing roses, clematis, or jasmine can all be trained to grow up a trellis or fence and provide a beautiful display of flowers. For shrubs, consider planting something like a viburnum or an evergreen holly, both of which can grow tall and dense.

Remember to also consider the mature size of the plants you choose, as you don't want them to outgrow their space and become difficult to maintain. Good luck with your planting!
